Dance With Me: A Poem

Hi there! Please enjoy this little poem about dancing that I wrote this evening.

It’s been a while since I moved my feet

In time to the beat of the drums and the scent

Of the wine; it’s been a while since that ideal was mine;

So take my hand, and show me how to dance again, put

Your hand on my waist and take me through the steps again,

And when I inevitably tread on your feet, show me how to

Laugh again.

It’s been a while since I felt the rhythm of the dance;

It’s been a while since I had the chance to move and sway

And find my own way through the melody I hear.

So take my hand, and show me how to dance again,

Hold me close, and teach me how to smile again,

And when we inevitably mess up the steps, show me how to

Forget again.

It’s been a while since I felt like this,

Like dancing is something I don’t want to miss,

It’s been a while since I felt the urge to move my feet.

So take my hand, and show me how to dance again,

Give me a smile, and make my heart beat fast again,

And when we inevitably run out of song, I know that I’ll be

Happy again.
