Early Morning Rain: A Poem

Hi there! I’m back from camping and should be back to posting daily for a while. I hope you enjoy this little poem inspired by some of the weather on my trip.

There is something

About waking up to rain

Pitter-pattering over your head,

Wind whipped canvas

Shaking all around you,

Scent of damp grass finding its way

Into your tent, listening

To the lashings of the gale,

And checking your watch to see that it’s still only 4am;

Then snuggling into a warm, dry

Sleeping bag and drifting off

Til the dawn light starts

To whisper in around you,

That just

Makes you feel peaceful;

And alive.
