Hi there! I hope you enjoy this poem that I wrote this evening, and please leave any feedback you might have in the comments. Thanks!
If the foundations
Of my sandcastle are brittle and crumbling,
And all the grains start crying
In rivers trickling from the turrets, an
Upheaval like an earthquake from beneath
As the waters seep through my futile defenses,
My moat filling and overflowing with the salty waves,
An inevitability from living close to the sea, don’t
Tell me that it would have been better
To build myself on some more solid foundation
When sand was all I had.
Sand, beaches and sea…all I will ever need, though as your poem teaches this is a recipe for a shaky foundation. 🙂 Wonderful imagery you’ve captured in this!
